RECYCLING
- Recycling bins are available at Jasper City Hall.
- One free recycling bin with lid will be available to new residents and/or new participants to the recycling program.
- Additional recycling bins & lids may be purchased at Jasper City Hall for $15.00 per recycling bin with lid.
- Each category should be in a separate container or bin. DO NOT use plastic bags (such as Wal-Mart bags) or brown paper bags.
*Note: recycling bins are not required for pick-up; however, a sturdy equivalent container is required.
Regular Recycling Week
The Street Department collects Recyclables and Cardboard on an alternating schedule.
Please refer to the City calendar or City website for these schedules.
- Aluminum: Beverage cans only. Rinse well & crush if possible.
- Clear Glass Jars: Rinse well, remove caps, lids & rings. NO colored glass, light bulbs, windows, mirrors, drinking glasses, or eye glasses.
- Newspaper: Newspaper must be kept DRY. Newspaper is the responsibility of the property owner until it is picked up (as to not be blowing around in the wind). Do not mix junk mail, church bulletins, office paper, catalogs, magazines, or computer paper with newspaper.
- Steel cans: Rinse soup & vegetable cans. (labels need not be removed)
Plastic Recycling Items
In an effort to reduce the amount of Trash which is taken to the landfill, the City of Jasper’s Street Dept will be expanding the type of plastic items accepted for curbside collection.
- Plastic: The acceptable(beginning April 6, 2020) plastic items include the following:
Plastic bottles & jugs with either #1 or #2 on them, these include:
- Milk jugs
- Water bottles
- Soda bottles
- Juice bottles
- Detergent jugs
- Soap bottles
- Shampoo bottles, etc.
Caps must be removed & discarded into the trash; however, labels need not be removed.
Plastic items which are NOT accepted are as follows:
- Lids
- Bowls
- Cups
- Buckets (ice cream buckets, etc.)
- Trays
- Styrofoam
- Cooking oil bottles
- Pressed plastic (clamshell packaging)
These items will not be picked up & should not be mixed with the acceptable items. The items which are not accepted, should go into your trash.
Cardboard Recycling Week
- Corrugated Cardboard, Paperboard, Brown Paper Bags, Cereal Boxes, Pizza Boxes, Toothpaste Boxes, etc.
- Boxes should be flattened. Please insure that cardboard is not blowing around in the wind prior to being picked up.
Magazine Recycling
- Magazines & Phone Books will be collected 6 times a year.
- Phone Books must be separated from Magazines
- These items must to be kept dry.
- Refer to the City calendar for pick-up dates.
