K-9 Officers

K9 Mack is a German Shepard who will be two years old as of January 2020. He was purchased from Slovakia and flown to the United States by Top Dogs Police K9 Academy in April 2019. Mack and his partner, Patrol Sergeant Brent Duncan, then completed the extensive six week patrol dog course and received certification through USPCA in May 2019. Mack is trained in suspect apprehension, tracking, article searching, obedience, and illegal narcotic detection. |

K9 Gator turned two years old in January of 2024 and is from Czechoslovakia. K9 Gator and his partner Patrolman Joe Chambers completed a six-week training course and certified through Vohn Liche Kennels. K9 Gator is trained in tracking, article searches, area searches and narcotics detection. |

Drone
|
The Jasper Police Department started their drone program in 2023 to better serve the citizens of Jasper and to allow safer operations and detailed investigations for Officers. JPD currently uses a 56X zoom thermal capable drone, allowing them to conduct diverse operations. The drone is used for serious crime photo and video documentation, traffic accident reconstruction, K-9 and Officer overwatch, locating missing persons & escaped prisoners, and much more.

E-Bikes / Bike Patrol
|
The Jasper Police Department recently updated our bike patrol equipment with a generous donation from the American Legion Post 147. Bike patrol officers now utilize 4 patrol bikes, in addition to the pictured two new E-bikes to patrol during the Strassenfest, other community events, and areas inaccessible by patrol car such as the Riverwalk and Parklands. |

School Resource Officers (SRO)
School Resource Officers Jason Knies and Brian Lampert are career law enforcement officers with sworn authority who are deployed by the Jasper Police Department for a community-oriented policing assignment to work in collaboration with the Greater Jasper Consolidated School Corporation. Officer Knies and Officer Lampert work in several different roles:
- Law Enforcement Officer - Officer Jason Knies and Brian Lampert are law enforcement officers with the primary purpose to “Keep the Peace.” Officer Knies and Officer Lampert manage this by police presence, prevention, and by enforcing criminal and traffic laws.
- Informal Counselor - Officer Knies and Officer Lampert provide resource guidance to students, parents, teachers, staff, and act as a link to support services both inside and outside the school.
- Educator - Officer Knies and Officer Lampert share special law enforcement expertise by presentations in the classroom to promote a better understanding of law enforcement and our laws.
